Now let's do some sharing.
I have recently been spending a great deal of time studying and praying about Honor in the Kingdom of God. This
has become a much more profound series of thoughts than what I had originally perceived. In fact, the Bible is full of
Honor from Genesis to Revelation. It is one of the major characteristics of the God-head. When God created Adam &
Eve, He honored them by allowing them to name the animals, be in charge of creation and most of all be His best
friends. They were the ones that God came down and spent time with. Scripture describes Him coming down and
walking with them in the cool of the evening. What an awesome privilege and honor. It was not because they deserved
or could even demanded it. It was purely because He loved to spend time with His children. In fact, one of the
characteristics of honor, is that true honor is not done for people that can do anything back. That would be a trade or
a "quid pro quo." True honor exalts those that do not deserve it. Honor has been defined as "humility in action."
This characteristic of God has not changed in the least. He continues loving to spend time with us. Scripture states
that God inhabits or lives on our praises. Dare I say that He feasts on them. I have a great picture of Him enjoying our
praise like we enjoy a well made dessert. We take our time eating it, enjoying every single bite and not letting a single
crumb get away. If nobody is looking, we scrape the dish for any last remnants like it is gold! I believe that God does
the same with our worship.
As we honor Him, He honors us. When He really shows up, it changes us. Let me explain that statement. They are
levels in scripture of the different degrees of God's presence.
God is everywhere. He is omnipresent.
Matt. 28:20 ...teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always,
even to the end of the age." Amen
Hebrews 13:5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He
Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."
But He has a personalized presence that is greater.
Matt. 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them."
Then a more powerful level is God's manifest presence which many have had and took for granted. They had to leave
this level of God's Presence.
Genesis 3:8 And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam
and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
Genesis 4:16 Then Cain went out from the presence of the Lord and dwelt in the land of Nod on the east of
Eden.
Leviticus 22:3 Say to them: 'Whoever of all your descendants throughout your generations, who goes near the
holy things which the children of Israel dedicate to the Lord, while he has uncleanness upon him, that person
shall be cut off from My presence: I am the Lord.
The greatest level of God that we can experience though, is not just His Presence but His Glory.
Ezekiel 1:28 Like the appearance of a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the
brightness all around it. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord.So when I saw it, I fell
on my face, and I heard a voice of One speaking.
Isaiah 40:5 The glory of the Lord shall be revealed, And all flesh shall see it together; For the mouth of the
Lord has spoken."
If you do a study of the word glory through out the Bible, you will find that it is used in several different formats.
Because of space, I am unable to share with you all of these references, but the word "glory" is used as a noun and a
verb. In fact, a deep study will reveal that the Ark of the Covenant represents the Glory or Presence. You will find that
this is a fascinating study that will show you the effect upon man that the different levels of God's Presence can have
on mankind. It is of course our goal, to have as much of the Presence of God as possible.
The word Glory, when defined as a noun is this- "Honor, reputation, dignity and praise."
God "honored" us, by creating us in His image. He crowned us with "glory and honor" (Psalm 8:5) When Jesus died
on the cross, He honored us by humbling Himself and at the same time raising us up when we didn't deserve it. He
Honored us. When He shows up during worship or when we are preaching or when we are just alone in our prayer
closet or in desperate need, He Honors us! He is not doing it because of what we can give back to Him. He is not
doing it because He is obligated. He is not doing it for any other reason, than He loves us and wants to Honor us!! It is
by His kindness (Honor) that we come to repentance.
If He is our example, then we should be the most Honoring people on the planet. We should not only be Honoring
Him, but we should be Honoring "the least of these." When we treat someone not for where they are but for where
they should be, they are Honored and God is Glorified. We are manifesting His Presence to the people that we are
Honoring. They begin to see, feel and believe in the kindness and honor of the Creator of the Universe. It is when
people can't give us anything back, that they truly taste honor. When we can't garner a reward, that God is truly
showing through the curtain of time and space. The unseen God is seen through us. The God that can't be seen is
seen. The God that we can't set eyes on because it would kill our mortal bodies, is suddenly witnessed.
We have the chance to pull back the curtain for those that haven't met Him or have been disenfranchised, to say "Not
only do I care for you, but the God of all creation loves you." You can show them that God is still alive and He still
cares for everyone of us. He loves them, this I know. For the Bible tells me so. Red and Yellow, Black and White. They
are precious in His sight.
Let's Honor Somebody today!!!
