Newsletter for 3/8/07- A Prophetic Word brings Comfort
|
Good Morning,
I have an exciting testimony to share with you from this last weekend, but let me first share a couple of
announcements with you. This Saturday Night we will be having our bi-weekly A.C.T.S. Service (All Churches Training
Service). We will be meeting at 6 pm in the Rainier Assembly of God Sanctuary (please note that we will not be in the
Fellowship Hall as usual). This is a great time for the churches of our area to come together to worship, hear some
teaching, receive prayer and go back to their home churches even more on fire than when they came! Please feel
free to join us!
Testimony
I just received a call from Pastor Steve Berry at Alston's Corner Assembly of God, where I had the pleasure of
preaching this last Sunday Morning. Pastor Berry asked me if I remembered praying for a specific woman at their
church and then went on to describe her. She had come forward during worship to have someone pray for her
husband, who was at home sick. He has been dealing with cancer for some time. I shared with Pastor Berry that I
remember meeting her and praying for her, but I honestly do not remember what I said, just that I remember waiting
on the Holy Spirit as I prayed for her.
Pastor Berry shared that this lady, who is new to their church, had called him and shared with him that the guest
speaker (me) that had preached Sunday Morning had prophesied over her not to fear that "her husband was going
home." To be frank with you, I perceived this word as he would be coming home, possibly from treatment or from a
hospital. When this lady arrived home, her husband had gone on to be with the Lord. However, she felt very
comforted that she had received a word from the Lord even before she discovered the situation. To God be the
Glory!!!
I don't want to get off on a tangent, but let me deal with one aspect of this before I get to where I am headed. We
usually deal with healing ministry or prophetic ministry or something else on these newsletters. This is obviously in
the prophetic category, but you might say, why didn't the husband get healed? I don't know. We have spent a great
deal of time sharing with you testimonies of miracles and healings, but for some reason, that is not what happened
here. My job is just to do what God calls us to do. I wish that every person that we pray for would get healed, but the
simple truth is we don't have a 100% rate. This will not hinder me from praying for the next person with just as much
vigor. As much as the enemy would like me to give up, I will not! But let's face the facts, this man went home to be
with the Lord and his wife was given a word of encouragement. Thank you Jesus for encouraging words, even if we
don't know when we are giving them or what the words mean. These words did however, reconcile with her heart.
Now, let's get back on task.
My reason for sharing this with you is two fold. Number one, I want to see your faith built up. God has not grown old
and tired nor has He gone on an extended vacation. He is just as much on the job today, as He was in Biblical Days.
He is continuing to minister to people supernaturally. In fact, what we consider to be supernatural, He considers
natural or every day. He is not intimidated by a changing of the times or "post-modernism" or anything else. Hebrews
13:8 states that the Lord is the same, yesterday, today and forever. We have seen many times throughout history
that the Lord has poured Himself out in signs and wonders, but if God is the same yesterday, today and forever, then
why don't we see signs and wonders all of the time? This is a great question!
If you look at all of the times that God has poured Himself out, the majority of the times, He has done so through a
man or woman. (I actually can't think of a time that He hasn't used a human, but if I state 100% of the time, I will likely
get an email showing me otherwise!!!) In all of the Great Revivals, at least one person and usually several, have
stepped up to make themselves available to the Lord. This didn't make that person special, but they allowed
themselves to be a "drink offering." To be a drink offering, we must allow ourselves as cups or containers to be
emptied and purified (so that our junk doesn't contaminate) and then filled up with the Lord. However, what He fills us
with, we can't keep!! It's a form of favor. When we get blessed it is great, but when we get Favor, the people around
us get blessed!!! This is way better! We must be willing to be poured out so that those that the Lord has placed near
us, can be blessed.
This leads me to the second part of this, in order to be poured out we must listen to the Father. This is what Jesus
did and He is our example. Here are some scriptures to support this-
Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!
Matthew 13:43
I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the
will of the Father who sent Me. John 5:30
He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father's who
sent Me. John 14:24
It is so important that as we get the chance to minister to people (not just pastors, but all of us are called!!), that we
hear from the Lord and speak what He is telling us to speak. Let's face it, we might be wise or even smart, but we
don't compare with the Lord's Counsel and Leadership! What kinds of things could we see happening in our lives, if
we would just begin to fine tune what we hear from the Lord before we act and then follow through with what He tells
us? Maybe, the Lord is waiting to pour out Revival, but He hasn't found people who are willing to receive what He has
for us. Maybe, His idea of Revival is different than ours.
If we look through history, I don't think that we can find any two revivals that were the same. They didn't start the
same, end the same or were the same in the middle! So why would we think that God would do it the same way this
time? I know that I want whatever God has for us, even if it is not exactly what I have predetermined. Because if it is
from God, it will be good!!
Let's step out in faith as we hear from Him, and expect wonderful things from the Lord. He is a Good God!!!
