Newsletter for 1/25/07- Variables of Healing- Part 1- God
|
Good Morning,
There are three things that I would like to share with you today. A list of reminders, a testimony and finally, some
teaching. First, let me remind you of a few things. Our A.C.T.S. (All Churches Training Service) at 6 PM on Saturday
Night at Rainier Assembly of God's Fellowship Hall. We will be offering worship, teaching and prayer for those that
desire it. We hope that you can be with us.
Also, New Life Fellowship Church in Longview is having Revival Meetings Sunday through Wednesday evenings.
They have an awesome guest speaker and are in their fourth week! They have seen some miraculous things and
many of our team members have attended their services and have been greatly blessed. Please attend if you get a
chance and please pray for them whether you are able to attend or not!
There is a continued community prayer meeting at 5-6 AM every morning at Northlake Baptist through the end of
January. They have had as many as 160 attend! Praise the Lord!! Let's continue praying together for the Lower
Columbia Valley!!
Testimony
We recently prayed for a man in Sweden, who is the brother-in-law of a board member at Rainier Assembly, when we
did a service there recently. We laid hands on the board member in proxy for his brother-in-law and prayed against
the Crohn's Disease that the man in Sweden had been diagnosed with. This man had been dealing with the passing
of blood as well as vomiting it for an extended period of time. He recently went to the doctor to be scoped to verify the
prognosis and figure out some kind of treatment. They did this from both ends. What they found was a very large
ulcer, that had been totally healed!! The doctor said that he had rarely ever heard of this and Crohn's usually leads
to death. All bleeding had stopped. They also found four very small ulcers that were NOT bleeding but still present.
The doctor felt that he could treat the small ones with medicine but could not understand how the large one had been
healed. Thank you Jesus!!!
By the way, please do not get caught up in, "Why didn't God heal the other four smaller ulcers?" Can I be open with
you- I don't know!! I am not God!! But I do know that, I will make a case FOR Christ and NOT against Him. And maybe
God is not done. As we have discussed before, there is a difference between healing and miracles. Healing takes
time and miracles are instant. Why does God do it different ways? I don't know, but I know that He does. I do know
that this man from Sweden has gone back to work representing the Royal Ranger Program (a Christian Boys
Program) throughout Europe. Praise the Lord, let's continue praying for this brother!!
The 5 Variables of Healing
I would like to share with you over the next few weeks, a revelation that the Lord gave me in 2006, regarding the Five
Variables of Healing. These are not obstacles to healing but the variables that can manifest obstacles.
Basically, this teaching is based on troubleshooting. If we pray for someone and they do not get their breakthrough, I
go back to the Lord and begin to question Him. I do not question Him whether it is His Will (we will discuss this in a
moment) but whether there is something else not in congruence. If there is something that I can fix or if I am part of
the problem, I want to know, so that I can fix it!
If your television was not working, you would begin troubleshooting what the problem was. You would first check to
see if it was plugged in and whether that plug-in was providing power. (For all of you preachers out there, the whole
power thing would preach for awhile!!) Once you had verified power, you would begin to make sure that you had not
done something wrong and had indeed operated the remote correctly or whether there were batteries in the remote.
(Men, I know that you know how to operate the remote correctly, please don't be offended by this step!) If you still
didn't have a picture but perhaps you had power, you would begin to check the inputs (i.e. cable, satellite, etc.)
If you really couldn't figure it out, then you might even get out the manual that came with the television. (Again, men
don't be offended, we are not stopping to ask for directions! We know that you know what you are doing!!)
So let's get to the manual, the Bible. The first variable involved in healing is the Lord Himself. We know that the Lord
is in favor of healing enough that He paid the price for it. In fact, it was prophesied before hand and recognized after
the fact.
Isaiah 53:5
But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our
peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.
1 Peter 2:24
who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for
righteousness--by whose stripes you were healed.
Please notice that Peter states that "you were healed." This is important to recognize, because Jesus has provided
everything that He can for our healing. There is nothing else that He can do to pay more. The ultimate and
all-encompassing price has been paid. Imagine with me that we have a credit card with the word "healing" on it. When
Jesus died on the cross, He paid an unlimited amount onto this credit card and then handed it to us. (By the way,
don't leave home without it!)
Several times throughout scripture, he gives us license and in fact, responsibility to use it!
Matthew 10:8
Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.
Notice the "freely you have received, freely give." We didn't have to pay for this because Jesus did, but He doesn't
expect us to NOT use it (we will talk about this more in another variable.) In fact, because of the enormous cost paid
for it, what kind of an insult is it if we do not use it?? This gift or "healing credit card" if you will, is provided to us by
Grace. Just as He provided us with enough Grace for Salvation, He provided for Healing as well. It is not by our power
but by His power and as easy to receive as salvation. (Don't be offended if you haven't been healed yet. Maybe God
is not done with you yet!! Please keep reading.)
Luke 9:2
He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.
Most churches have trouble with the verbs in this verse. We seem to be ok with preaching but healing the sick, too
many feel that this was just for the Biblical Times or for people with special gifts. I don't agree with either one of these
perspectives. God is the same yesterday, today and forever. What He believed in during the New Testament times,
He hasn't changed His mind about. He didn't change just charge the disciples or those with gifts to heal the sick but
expected signs and wonders to follow all believers.
Luke 10
8 Whatever city you enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you. 9 And heal the sick
there, and say to them, 'The kingdom of God has come near to you.'
I know that these directions were given to the disciples but we are also disciples of Christ. Shouldn't we receive the
same directions. Many Christians are alright with taking part of what Jesus told the disciples to do, but not receiving all
of it. Isn't there some inconsistency in that?
The First Variable of Healing is God. Is it His Will? YES!! Do I understand His timing? No. Do I understand why He
doesn't do it the first time someone is prayed for but does it the fourteenth time? No. Do I understand why sometimes
it's miraculous (instantaneous) and sometimes it's a healing (takes time)? No. Do I know why our team can pray for
Joe and Jim and they both have the same condition but Joe gets healed and nothing happens to Jim? No.
However, I do know that Christ paid too big of a price for it to not be His Will. There are also too many scriptures (a
few that I listed) that say that it is His Will for us to be Healed. In fact, let me give you a few more.
John 4:48
Then Jesus said to him, "Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will by no means believe."
I can't find anywhere in scripture that Jesus met someone that was sick or infirm that He didn't Heal. I know it says that
His ministry was hindered in a few localities and we will deal with that in the coming weeks, but it still says that He
healed those that were brought to Him. In fact, at Jesus' first meeting with one of His disciples, He gives Him a Word of
Knowledge and then expresses to him, that He will see greater things than these (John 1:50). As in John 4:48
(above), in John 5:20, He shares that it is His Will that people will be drawn to Him by the signs and wonders. It is by
His kindness that we are saved. However, we have reduced this to the "giving a cup of cold water" instead of what
God had in mind. This is our real job anyway, to hear from God what is on His mind and then manifest it!
I resist the temptation to question His timing as I go to minister. I will ALWAYS pray for someone with the simple faith
and expectation that they are going to be Healed right there and then. I resist the temptation to make a case against
Christ if He doesn't do it the way that I think or in the time that I think. I will not follow signs and wonders, but Jesus
stated that He expected signs and wonders to follow those that believe. Let's believe!
