Newsletter for 11/2/06- Revivalists
|
Good Morning,
I would like to remind you of a few upcoming dates and then share a thought with you. This Saturday, Nov. 4 at 6 pm
in the Rainier Assembly of God Fellowship Hall we will have our bi-weekly Bible Study. This includes worship, teaching
and prayer for those that would like it. We have seen quite a few people healed and/or delivered during these times.
At our last Saturday Night Meeting (October 21), we had a lady come for the first time that was preparing to go to
Israel on a tour but has been dealing with bone on bone in her knees. She had been talking to her doctor about knee
replacements but they had not been able to schedule anything yet. It was painful for her to climb stairs or get up from
the floor (especially after praying for someone). She asked us to pray for healing for her, so that she wouldn't have
limited mobility on her trip. When we finished praying for her, she had complete movement and insisted on getting
down on her knees to lay hands on the next person's feet, that we were praying for. She also had a great deal of pain
from a shoulder injury that also was immediately healed. Praise the Lord!! We saw other healings that night including
many inner healings.
We will also be doing our Second Healing Service at Northlake Baptist on Friday Nov. 10 at 6 pm. If you are unable to
attend, please pray with us that the Lord will do all that He wants to do. Also, beginning next week this newsletter will
begin coming from a new address newsletter@kingdompowernow.com. Please adjust to allow this into your email if
you have some kind of restrictions on it.
I was recently given a great book called God's Generals by Roberts Liardon. This is an excellent book and I would
recommend it to everyone. It outlines 12 of the most powerful revivalists of the 1900's. It not only tells you about their
successes but also about their failures and why. Don't worry, I am not trying to sell any of these books! I do however,
want to introduce a thought to you, regarding these people.
In the natural, there seems to be no real pattern to their lives. They weren't all poor or all rich. Some were raised in
church and some weren't. The ones that were, had assorted denominational links. There were both male and female.
There weren't all the same race. Some were married and some were widowed. Some had been divorced and some
got divorced during their ministry. This is a very powerful group of people and very diverse in who they were.
The only pattern in their lives that I can see, are two things. They all had faith. You may think that they had a gift of
faith, which may be true, but they all struggled early on in their ministries with how much faith. Many of them stumbled
into Healing Ministry, not ever looking for it. Some reached for God's Healing Power out of necessity for family
members. In fact, in Hebrews 11:6 it says this:
-- "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he
exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him."
This chapter goes on to describe the great Biblical Characters of Faith. But allow me to point out that "without faith it
is IMPOSSIBLE to PLEASE GOD". Impossible is a very strong word. In fact, Smith Wigglesworth to this verse literally
and believes that this is why, the Lord "passed over a million to anoint one." Jesus describes us as not needing much
faith, but that we do need it.
The second thing, is that we "faith without works is dead." This implies action. I have written lately about taking risk
and stepping out in faith, so I don't want to beat a dead horse, but how else do we manifest faith?
Most of us, have more faith in our car starting when we put the key in it, than we do in God Healing someone when we
pray for them! We know that it is His Will or He wouldn't have taken the stripes on His back. In fact, we
claim it once a month when we take communion.
Do we have greater faith in salvation than we do in healing? He paid for both at the same time. We celebrate both
when we take communion. How come we are so eager to lead someone through the plan of salvation but not pray with
them for healing?
I heard one pastor, say "What do you do when two men bring their mothers to your church and you pray for both
mothers but only one gets healed and the other goes home to be with the Lord? What do you tell the son that just
lost his mother??"
I ask back, "Does everybody that we pray with for salvation, stay with it? NO?!? Then should we quit praying with
people for salvation?" Of course not!! Let's not throw the baby out with the bath water!!
Jesus was very clear in His command to us- "7 And as you go, preach, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is at
hand.' 8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely
give." Matthew 10:7-8
What is stopping us from seeing the miracles that Jesus prophesied that we would see and do (John 14:12)? WE are
the only ones stopping us! Let us not only grab hold of the faith that we have but let's step out and do something
with it as well!!!
Working while it is still day,
